Abstract: Filipino uplanders are minority groups formed in the early process of the Filipino migration. However, the colonization process that started in the 15th century interrupted the natural process of integration of ethnic groups and artificially constructed dualism of uplanders and lowlanders. After the 1980s, the government abandoned the forced assimilation policy and came to carry out the protective development policy. The uplander question began to be "indigenalized". But the psychological barriers and distinctions between the uplanders and lowlanders are difficult to eradicate in a short time. The separation of ethnic groups constructed artificially in Philippines may exist for a long time.
