内容摘要： 美国和加拿大的民族政策，经历了长期的演变过程，其本质是维护其核心文化，延续“美国化”、“加拿大化”的民族同化。民族歧视长期存在，移民矛盾日益激化的现实，说明其民族政策没有也不可能解决所有问题。中国和美国、加拿大等国家在基本国情、民族关系目标和民族政策原则等方面存在着根本性的差异，我们应从本国实际出发，进一步坚持和完善中国特色的民族政策。

Abstract:  Ethnic policies of America and Canada have gone through a long history of evolution, in which the essence is to protect core culture and prolong Americanized and Canadianized ethnic assimilation. The existence of discrimination against ethnic groups and increasingly intense ethnic conflicts show that their ethnic policies failed to solve all the problems. China is different from America, Canada and other countries in basic national conditions, ethnic relation goals and ethnic policy principles. Therefore, neither the melting pot model of assimilation nor the multicuhural model suits China＇s situation. We should further adhere to and optimize ethnic policy with Chinese characteristics according to our country＇s actual conditions.
